The Ogles Watch Neighborhood Association is a Neighborhood Watch group formed in 2013 by approximately 30 families in the subdivisions that make up the Ogles Neighborhood in Belleville, Illinois. Today, the Ogles Watch Neighborhood Association represents approximately 1,500 families and is one of the largest Neighborhood Watch programs in Illinois.

OWNA’s main means of communications since it’s formation in 2013 has been a Facebook group. The Facebook group now has over 1300 members and is limited to people who own or rent property or have family members in Ogles. To join, visit the Facebook group and submit a request.

The primary goal of The Ogles Watch Neighborhood Association is to enhance the livability of the neighborhood and to establish and maintain a line of communication and liaison among the neighborhood, government agencies and other neighborhoods.

OWNA maintains a camera registry, team-caller, email list and the Facebook group. Any incidents in The Ogles Neigborhood are immediately reported to the police. The camera registry is used to ask nearby residents with cameras to check their footage. Everyone is notified by the email list or Facebook group.

OWNA has evolved into a Community Organization and is not just a Neighborhood Watch group.  It is also a source of information for residents ranging from lost pets, power/internet outages, home repairs and a great source for recommendations for various local businesses and services.

OWNA has arranged community events ranging from the Ogles Annual Neighborhood Yard Sale, 5K runs, hosting recycling & document shredding events, food drives, blood drives, supply drives for Harmony-Emge schools and the Belleville Area Humane Society as well as working with BAHS on TNR programs in which over 30 feral cats have been spayed or neutered in The Ogles Neighborhood over the last few years.

The orientation of this summer 1959 aerial photo of The Ogles Neighborhood is rotated so that east is up and north is to the left.

The Southern RR tracks thru Ogles are visible on the left. The section of Ogles between the tracks and 74th St are cut off. West Main runs diagonally from the upper right corner. 74th St is at the bottom as is the recently built Emge Junior High School. The subdivision next to Emge is under construction,

The Briarwood and Melwood subdivisions haven’t been built yet. St Matthews Church hadn’t been built yet, but the Country Club Heights and Shepherd Hills Subdivisions around it have been mostly built out. The big fieled just above where the church should be in this photo became the 5th and 6th additions to Pinecrest.

You can see County Club Acres between Longview and Werner had not been built yet and most of the subdivision was still vacant.

Mitchell Place was mostly built out as were the Atlee Ogles 1st and 2nd additions. The 3rd, 4th and 5th additions were still being built out, with the 5th just being started. There appears to be a retention pond where the 6th thru 11th additions to Atlee Ogles are today.
